Discover Berlin-Neukölln this weekend at the amazing 48 hours Neukölln Festival of arts
Berlin’s largest festival of the arts will, for the eleventh time, offer an opportunity to delve into the culturally prospering area of northern Neukölln. This part of the city has, increasingly, attracted attention as a breeding ground for the most diverse creative projects. This year, in merely 48 hours, more than 1000 participants at over 270 locations will present around 550 events. Here’s your chance to experience the mind-boggling variety of cultural activity on offer at what might, for some, appear at unlikely locations. From Friday – Sunday (7 pm – 7 pm) contemporary art, theatre, dance and performance, readings and parties will fill galleries, studios, and theatres as well as temporary spaces that open their doors to become cultural spaces.
The focus of this year’s festival is “Humus Neukölln” demonstrates how 48 Stunden Neukölln keeps the impact of continuous growth in mind, as this is not, always something to be welcomed. Good ideas and creative processes sprout, bringing all manner of growth along with those ideas. In the process, Neukölln’s image has changed. What used to be considered a rather grimy area has become, gradually, recognised as where interesting cultural projects develop. Such dynamic mutations are exactly the sort of thing that will be examined during the festival.
The verve of the cultural scene in Neukölln is still very much something to wonder at. This year’s motto, “Humus Neukölln”, is, therefore not only meant as a metaphor. This year, participating artists have been invited to explore notions of “Nature and Urbanity” with special emphasis on taking advantage of the many green areas in Neukölln.
We’re looking forward to greeting you here.
Events take place both indoors and outdoors and are, largely, for free.
