Our top 10 of things to do in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg
If you are coming to Berlin we could recommend you to pay a visit to the vivid district
Prenzlauer Berg.
here you will find loads of small shops, bars, markets and parks. For all the people who
don´t have any idea what to see and do in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg, we have made a handy
top 10 of great activities in our amazing neighborhood. All of these sights and bars are
within walking distance to the East Seven Berlin Hostel. If you are planning to come to
Berlin you are more than welcome to stay at our cozy hostel, right in the heart of Berlin
Prenzlauer Berg.
Here is our personal TOP 10:
1.It´s summertime, Yeah!! a must visit: Berlins largest and oldest beer garden – the
Prater.
2.Wasserturm The unofficial symbol of Prenzlauer Berg, this 30m high tower was built in
1877 as the local water reservoir. Once used by the Nazis as a prison, today the round
brick Wasserturm has been converted into trendy apartments.
Check for art exhibitions next to the tower, in the underground reservoir.
3.enjoy Berlin´s great bars/clubs/cafes all around us – e.g. White Trash, Prater
(Berlin’s oldest beergarden),
Week End, Icon Club, Kaffee Burger, Bassy Club,
Tacheles etc.
4.shop till you drop in Berlin´s off-beat fashion shops on Kastanianallee
5.find some of Berlin`s best fleamarkets near the Hostel, they are on every sunday!
6.Helmholzplatz. According to local legend, Prenzlauer Berg has one of the highest birth
rates in all of Germany. Helmholzplatz is just one of the places in the district where
mummies and daddies come to push their new-borns around in expensive pushchairs and
gorge on a little brunch.
Visit the best affordable Japanese restaurant in East Berlin: Sasaya
Alternative and strictly limited Berlin fashion and graphics: Supalife Kiosk in Raumer Str.
7.Kollwitzplatz: Käthe Kollwitz, the famous left-wing, anti-war artist, would no doubt take
great pride that not only is there a square named after her (complete with bronze statue)
but that its one that was once a meeting point for intellectuals and artists during Prenzlauer
Bergs nasty East Germany days.
Dont miss Kollwitzplatz`s famous market on saturdays
Enjoy amazing cakes and delicious coffee at the Anna Blume café on the corner of
Sredzkistrasse and Kollwitzstrasse.
Just round the corner is Rykestrasse Synagogue, Germany’s largest synagogue.
8.Kulturbrauerei This huge complex of night-time hangouts originally housed Berlins
Schultheiss brewery for more than 150 years. By night the Culture Brewery turns into a
popular meeting point for determined drinkers, eager to explore the buildings wealth of
bars, clubs, cafes and restaurants, or just hang out in the huge courtyard.
The Kulturbrauerei is also a popular venue for famous live acts.
9.Mauerpark If you are over 20 and still like to play (particularly with beer bottles), then
this is your playground. Its the best place in Berlin for relaxed outdoor boozing and there
are hilltop swingsets which are a great spot for watching the sun sink lazily in the West.
Dont miss the fabulous flea market on Sundays.
10.and after a hard day´s walking, why not recover in EastSeven´s lush garden with
some selected german beers!

EastSeven Berlin Hostel made a fine selection of amazing things to do in Berlin…

1.)FREE FOOD: as always on a monday our cook florian prepares a delicous vegetarian dinner served at the eatseven hostel kitchen, lounge and in summer in the garden. It is free to join for all our guests, and if you like you can bring your own ingredients and join in on the cooking. Mostly, after eating together, the party really starts when travellers meet travellers. After the nice dinner it’s time to explore the cool pubs and clubs that the EastSeven Hostel is surrounded by.
2.) HELMHOLZPLATZ: SEVERAL BARS YOU MUST VISIT
Just walk from the hostel to the helmholzplatz, it will take you about 15 minutes by foot.
Here are lots of nice shops, bars & restaurants.
One of my favourite ‘helmholz-bars’ is the EKA. It is a really small and cosy bar. Take the local disocunt card with you (ask for it at the reception) and get a 10% discount on all portuguese drinks. Try the portuguese beer, I loved it!!!
Also visit the bar wohnzimmer! It is decorated as one big living room. Really nice to hang out, drink a beer or a coffee. With our famous discount card you get one coffee for free.
3.)  KLUB DER REPUBLIK
a cozy bar/klub just  round the corner from the eastseven berlin hostel, at the pappelallee 81
Go here for a drink &  lounge while listening to cool dj´s…

4.)  SAGE CLUB

Every thursday night there’ s an amazing rock and indie party  at sage club. With different live acts every week! go check it out, its only a 25minutes ride from the EastSeven Hostel.

5.) SACHSENHAUSEN MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM

When visiting Berlin, you should visit some historical sites aswell. for instance the sachsenhausen concentration camp. It’ s not going to be a fun trip, but you will learn so much more about the terrible second world war and its victims.

5 insider tips on spending your evening in Berlin

we´ve listed up some cool events for you for this monday. So If you don´t have any clue on what to do tonight, read on and get inspired.
For the first event you don´t even have to go far. Its right here at the cosy Berlin Hostel: Our cooking event. Free food for all our guests. After eating a delicious meal, meeting up with other hungry backpackers just go for a stroll and walk to the B Flat acoustic music and jazz club. Tonight they will be playing modern jazz, live of course. Then after that, go check out some amazing art and listen to some cool dj´s at the Montags Bar at Temporäre Kunsthalle.

Then take a walk to Helmholzplatz, closeby there is such a cool bar, its called Intersoup. The make the most magnificent soups. It is really cosy here and the electronic music they play makes you wanna dance all  night long.

So if you still got energy left, you should definitely check out the last tip on our list. Dr.Pong is different from any bar in Berlin. They have a big table tennis area where everybody is drinking, smoking and above all playing table tennis together. Don´t miss out on this one!

Those events are projects of the artists residency Knstlerhaus Bethanien and current and former residents as well as their guests and friends will arrange of the Montags Bar. Live acts, a DJ stand and screenings will create a multi-layered musical program fully in line with the Knstlerhaus. The Montags Bar is for FREE!
