Berlin will celebrate the 15th Carnival of Cultures on Whitsunday weekend: 21st May- 24th May 2010.
The carneval of cultures represents the ethnic and cultural diversity of the German capitol.
It´s a four-day street festival, starting this friday afternoon at 4pm.
With up to 400 different stalls, selling delicious international food, jewellery, clothes, drinks and much more…this is going to be the party of the year!
Also there is music, live music! There are about 950 artists playing world music, interactive performances, dances and percussionists !
The highlight of the festival is the procession, wich takes place on whitsunday and will last about 9 hours. What to expect? Artistic costums and mask and around 4500 participants from 70 different nations!
Furthermore you will see acrobats, stilt walkers, wizards, percussionist, clairvoyants and many more.
How to get to the Festival:
The closest underground stations are Hallesches Tor (line U1 and U6) and Mehringdamm (line U7 and U6) which are directly located at Blücherplatz.
You can also reach the festival area within a five minute walk from the station Gneisenaustraße.
How to get to the street parade:
The starting point is located at Hermannplatz. You can get there easily by taking the underground (line 8 or line 7) and get off at the station Hermannplatz.
The stations (Südstern), Gneisenaustraße and Mehringdamm are located along the route.
